Buffalo Remembrance Portraits

on view at the Gates Block Studios
Lobby Exhibition Space
305 Market St. Lowell, MA
through August 15, 2022

When I learned of the mass shooting in Buffalo - a targeted act of racially motivated hatred, ending in the loss of so much precious life,
my heart broke for all those who lost a loved one.

I wondered how I might process my own grief about the continuing violence against Black people in this country. I decided to read about each of the ten victims and create a small portrait to honor them.

Though most of the art I share with others celebrates life’s joys, I feel compelled to share this personal project in order to prompt deeper conversations about important issues facing our country at this time.

Thank you for viewing this art and reading my thoughts,
